About Blender

Blender is a free open source 3D content creation suite that is used by digital artists to create 3D art and animations. There is a wide toolset available in Blender, defining a complete pipeline (from modelling to sequence editing) controlled by a flexible and consistent user interface. It is a powerful and smart software that currently is used in today’s movies, games and advertisements (Spiderman 2 for example used Blender for the story board animations).

There have been movies that use part or completely this software for special effects and animation. "Friday or Another Day", a Locarno International Film Festival winner was the first 35 mm feature film to use Blender for all the special effects, while movies like "Elephants Dream", "Big Buck Bunny" were animation movies created completely in Blender were conceived as projects to validate and improve the software.

Blender FAQ's

For Blender jobs, while we haven’t yet enabled fully automated Job Prediction, we still dynamically allocate cores to your jobs to manage the performance. Basically, all jobs submitted to GreenButton are allocated only a small number of cores initially, then once your job is running; our system monitors the job, and then determines how many extra cores should be allocated. Generally we boost the initial number of cores by 400% but please note, the extra cores can take a further 15 to 20 minutes to come online, so small jobs (less than 100 frames or single frame renders) may complete before the additional cores are available.

If you decide that your job is not running fast enough, simply contact us and we can crank it up even more.

For a limited time we are offering a special of just US $0.18 per core hour for all Blender, Yafaray and LuxRender jobs. This special is available until the 29th of Feburary 2012.
